2020 Event Cancelled: INLINE MARATHON

If gliding along smooth pavement through scenic woodlands offering breathtaking views of Lake Superior sounds like your idea of skating heaven, the Apostle Islands Inline is the perfect event for you.

This unique inline race has something for every skating enthusiast and skill level, including a full marathon, a little more than a half marathon and fun race. The 8.7-mile looped course features a combination of flats, curves, straightaways and two hairpin turns.

Nestled at the base of Mt Ashwabay Ski Hill, 3 miles south of Bayfield, Wisconsin, Big Top overlooks Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The tent’s summer schedule includes performances by renowned national, regional and touring musicians and runs from mid June to early September.

Book Across the Bay is the upper Midwest’s most unique winter event, open to skiers and snowshoers of all ages and ability levels. The 10-kilometer course, which is groomed for both classic-style and skate skiing, starts in Ashland and ends in Washburn, and follows a route not on land, but over the frozen surface of Lake Superior, the world’s largest lake. The event is held at night, and the course is lit by the stars above and up to 1,000 candles in ice luminaries that line the entire route.
